Araucarea Helerophglla
A real challenge, indoors or outdoors...
These pictures do not even come close to capturing the true dynamic brillance.
Whites are washed out, and blacks are hidden.
Can't see detail in my hand, and can not see detail in the shadows.
This pictures are not at all what the real world looked like at the time!
So what is the contrast ratio?
Naming convention:
Software colors are specified as RGB 00 00 00 to FF FF FF
Which is one part in 256 for any of the three colors
Printers:
Which is the same as the best photo paper.
This LCD monitor is specked out at one in 500
LCD TV sets are one in 500.
Plasma TV sets are specked as one in two thousand.
Mirror technology monitors are specked at 1/2500
But what is this camera? No manufactures will disclose this information
Theoritically if one could find out the max colors, then one could take the cube root of colors to find the contrast.
This would be aprox because it is a little more complicated:
For the human eye, the blue contribution is about 11% and red about 29%, and green about 60%. Dispite the limitations of the human eye, I would guess an eye has a contrast ratio of atleas
1/20000.
There is one more discripency with digital cameras:
Blue Lupens are very much purple. You can walk out into the fields in spring and see the blue lupins in there beutiful blue-purple color. A digital camera does NOT display the purple! Kodachrome
and Ectachrome slide films do display the true purple.
A fact is sadly apparent: Digital cameras are not even in the same league as film cameras. Film cameras when shooting slides have great contrast ratios and yeald true color.

Ornamental Strawberrys
Fragaria chiloensis
I like this ground cover, and these berries task ok.
Pretty with lots of blanketed red color.
Texas Privet Weed.
Privet Ligustrum
Hedge, Tree, invasive species
This weed is common in Chico and unfortunatly grows in my yard too.
Of the olive family and an evergreen and has large quantities of black colored berries. Opposing side stems.
Difficult to irradicate and morfs into big trees at will.
Berries tast real bad and may be poisonous.
Drops leaves all year long, but is an evergreen. After a cold spell, leaves drop prolifically. I don't like this plant.
