P1350736a.jpg, 35kB Getting serious now; The thing is up in the air now. We are flying on Hawaiian, headed to Maui. Totally committed, no turning back.

P1260092w.jpg, 49kB Here is the problem: Worried about leaving Callie behind.
She has emotional issues. She has separation anxiety. Well... I have to be honest; perhaps it is me that has separation anxiety. She is by my side 24/7. She is clingy. She has to be near me all the time. And I like it. She finds joy in the little stupid things in life. What ever couch I am sitting on, she jumps up next to me, making sure her back is touching me, or perhaps innocently, a foot. If I am on the computer, then she is in her bed that is inside the computer desk. She rides next to me on the center console, or rides in my lap. She is always there near me. When she is hungry she taps me on the leg with her paw, and moves her tongue in and out and wets her lips. When she needs to pee, she also taps on me, and motions with a look to a door. And she knows very important words, like "squirl", and "look".

I can supply her world. I can richly supply her world with bounty running over. And I feel appreciated by her.

20220424_073541a.jpg, 22kBLeaving Sacramento, and heading west. Hawaiian allows you to choose your seats. I chose the North side, which in this case of a flight to the West, is the right side of the plane. The sun will not be in my eyes. I chose seats 42J and 42H.

P1350772a.jpg, 34kBAs soon as we got off the plane, Linda and I knew we were in Maui. You can feel the breeze, and smell the aroma of banyan flowers. This is not a banyan flower. It simply got in the way of my camera.

P1350777a.jpg, 35kBI have a twitchy camera finger because it has been a couple of years sense we have been here.

20220424_115819a.jpg, 32kBPeggy Sue parking lot
Check in is not till 16:00.And before we go to our first home, the Maui Vista, we go to a little place called "Peggy Sues".

20220424_121347a.jpg, 41kBFor years this has been a favorite spot. The price is way too much now; about $13 for a sauerkraut hot dog. But we can remember. We can remember very cheap prices and Oldies music. Those were the days...

I do not want to date ourselves by describing the old atmosphere, but the change may be because everyone our age must be dead. The old patronage is gone. It is dead like the silent juke box.

20220424_144721a.jpg, 33kB

20220424_144747a.jpg, 54kBI bet she got loose. I wonder if the owner knows that she is over here on the Kihei sand.

20220424_161255a.jpg, 58kB2022.04.24
This is our view from our back door. No ocean view, but beautiful grounds. And the ocean beach is across the road.I am wrong. Actually, you can see the ocean from here. It does not matter; There are no bad places in Maui. They are all good.

Well, I am wrong about that too. Timeshares are bad. Not because of the views, but because the owners are not human. As I know in my heart, my Callie is a real human person. And Timeshares are owned by animals. You can not go by looks and physical apparance.

P1350827a.jpg, 26kBThis is our second place, a place that we have enjoyed before. Great place right on the beach.Privately owned condos.

As we walked in, Linda went around and examined the whole place. That is her thing. It is a girl thing. But I knew she was troubled. She spent a long time going here and there. Odd behavior. Something was really bad wrong. She finally said; Alan, there is no bedroom! So, I being a resourceful guy, used to RVs and coming from a poor family, began pulling out the couch.

P1350796a.jpg, 38kB But after I shut the main door, I could see another hidden door. There was the bedroom! A whole nuther room.

P1350850a.jpg, 32kB2022.04.25 Wind Turbines
I have noticed, as the wind increases, more wind turbines shut down. Here, only a few are working. They certainly are not shutting down due to a lack of wind.I think it is a combination of too much wind for rotor safety, and also too much power generation for the grid.I have never heard of a place that has too much Green power. Nowhere! But I think, evidently, it is so, here in Maui.

I had a simular problem in my design of my RV. You do not want to curtail power generation. In general, you fail as a design engineer if you waste power.I alone designed a power regulator that inherently diverted, instead of curtailing, unwanted power. But that is a technical subject that I describe elsewhere on this website.

I am good at what I do.

Elizabeth, the owner, has left us these chairs, as well as a surfboard, fins and masks. We have it all, including a washer and dryer. And as we have discovered, we also have a bedroom.

P1360018a.jpg, 28kB2022.04.27 Sunset
One thing nice about this place, is that sunsets over the ocean are viewed right from our living room, just pull back the blinds.Or, as is this case, step out unto the Lanai deck.

Table on Lanai deck.We love out breakfasts here on the lanai. So do the birds.

We had a sparrow come strolling into our living room carrying a Cheeset cracker, stollen from someone else. We do not have any Cheesets.

I discovered a new tea. It is in the green can. Litchi tea tastes like magic and has an aroma that you can smell at the same time that you can taste. An even better Litchi tea comes in a more yellow can. A totally new experience for me. Love it.

Kula, at goat farm
I used to own a couple of goats. They are good pets.In fact, they may be people too.

But goat cheese is terrible.

20220430_153347a.jpg, 31kBWay down in the valley, is Maalaea with its harbor on the ocean coast. The view is still hazy, but not as bad as it has been with the volcano smog.

20220501_171712a.jpg, 71kBStarted to rain. The little ones ran under the mom. We could not fit, so we ran for cover in the restaurant.

20220501_173802a.jpg, 38kBCould not resist. I took a bite out of the Mahi Mahi. Delicious. Pictures come second.

For years, Linda and I eat in a manner different than anyone else:
We order only ONE plate of something. Then we divide it up. Sounds cheap, and in a place like Maui it is unheard of.When we do order two plates, we order two DIFFERENT plates, and divide those up.

We used to have several places that we could afford, but not anymore. One place was CafeOLay. Years ago, it was $8.99 for Lunch MahiMahi on rice, like this. Not anymore.

Another was Mulligans On The Blue. Years ago, this place was reasonable and fun.We enjoyed real Irish music while we ate. It was live entertainment. God, I loved that place. So informal, and cheap. Authentic Irish and beer. I usually had cabbage. Love cabbage. Not anymore, everything has changed.

The whole island is changing; A fatality of commercialization.
It is possible that Linda and I may not ever come again. Not just because of prices, but because our values have been left behind.

20220502_231608a.jpg, 24kB2022.05.02 23:16 Arrived back in Sacramento.
But no one could get out of Long Term Parking.
There were 4 exit columns. Only one lane was moving. The other three had an idiot trying to use a different credit card than the one used to enter Long Term Parking.
All cars have to slowly back up until cars can maneuver, and switch lanes.
There is no security to escort questionable cars to a temporary area to investigate whether stollen or not.

The idiots, may or not be, car thieves. There is no way to tell.Either way, idiots or thieves, they are animals. Biologically speaking, for sure. With all the stress, I can sure tell we are back.

Sometimes, I think that I am loosing my testosterone. I am not as tough:
I know where there is a little loving "person" waiting for me, as soon as I get home...
