I could not remember the name of this plant. But I knew the bloom would be a yellow flower. Mom would plant the bulbs when we were kids.

Pardon the dogs. I put my finger down on the ground, and the doggies thought that I was directing them here, and ment for them to come. But I am not going back for a better picture. They just got in the way. This picture became important in an Email that I share at the end. And at the time, I had no pictures of Daffodils in bloom.

IMG_20240225_150254Daff.jpg, 198kB The Experimental Seed Farm, besides suppling seeds to the Forest Service, also has a natural habitat area and stream.

The public is tentatively welcome. Large dogs, off leash, have tore up the fauna in the past.

The land is gated, and hours enforced. Tree orchards are off limits.

I know of no bathrooms. There are many wastebaskets through out the park, and some benches and tables.

An Email

12MOMYEL1981MARBrighter.jpg, 24kB Today is Mom's "Last Day" (Alive). I know that it is not a birthday, and nothing to celebrate, but it still means something to me.

This was in March 1981. And God bless the kid that is holding the flowers for Mom; Because no glory for herself, as she is not in the picture, but FOR MOM!

And now, as I write this, there is a supernatural aspect to this picture too: The Flowers.

Yesterday, Linda and I were walking in the "Experimental Tree Farm", a pleasant place, open to the public, to see nature and smell the aroma of fresh air and see the clear water of the stream. Near the stream, I found a bundle of protruding green shoots. I recognized the bundle. I shouted to Linda to come over here and look at these! I explained the importance: These green shoots are going to be flowers, like my Mom grew! I do not know the name, but they are going to bloom into a yellow flower, and they are a bulb. We walked further along the path, admiring the birds chirping and tiny green leaves starting on dormant branches. And then there it was...

Right off the trail was another bunch of green shoots, but this time with a single yellow flower in full bloom. I bent down to gently smell the flower. Wow, I remember the smell. I had Linda also bend down and smell the flower. I explained that this was the same flower that we were looking at earlier, but now in bloom. And this is exactly the flower that Mom grew, and for sure. So important that I am going to look it up when we get home. I was excited because this is the flower that Mom grew.

Well, I forgot to look it up, and instead noticed a message from my computer saying that this was Mom's last day. I have to share this with you. I just picked out a random picture of Mom that hit my fancy to share with you. And here it is, quite by chance. Now look at what is under her chin...

BBALLBLU.GIF, 139B Ben would say that this is from the Narcissus genus.
BBALLBLU.GIF, 139B Mom would say this is her Daffodil.
BBALLBLU.GIF, 139B I just say I love you Mom. I love you Mom for talking to me.
