Long-lived evergreen

Leaves:
Lanceolate
Flat, Dark Green
Spirally on stem in two oreinted flattened rows

Fruit: large green oblong 1.25 inches long
Streaked with purple lines
Large brown seed inside flesh
flesh is "piny" but evedently NOT poisonous.

My wifes mom needed nutmegs for her yearend cooking. She asked if I had any nutmegs. I quickly answered: Sure! In fact, I had California Nutmegs, and lots of them. I proudly gave her a big bag of my nutmegs.

A week later she almost through those nutmegs at me. She was so upset. She wanted me to know, in so many uncertain words, that those were the worst nutmegs that she had ever seen. Absolutely worthless things!

Actually, it was my brothers fault: He told me that those were nutmegs.
