CONES:
Largest of the fir cones.
Barrel shaped, sit upright on the branches
Fall apart in the autumn while still on the tree
Pollen cones are reddish
NEEDLES:
Stubby
Dark green with two white/silvery bands on the lower surface
Two glaucous blue-white bands of stomata below
Needles twist upwards. Bows form horizontal platforms.
